Wander. Breathe. Play.
Dear Dust is a slow design studio specialising in zine, art prints and stationeries, founded by the cultural researcher and visual artist, Holly Chau, in 2018. From capturing everyday life, creating art prints to writing cultural journals, the studio aims to explore the topics of identity, embodiment and power relations, in order to promote the ideas of slow life - wander, breathe and play.
We have three categories: "Cultural Journals", "Nutty Creamy", "We are not compatible".
- "Cultural Journals" is a series of researches on identity, in relation to sociology, psychology, media and communications studies. Graduated from LSE as a cultural researcher, I am always excited to investigate the relationship of self and "the others", discourse and representation.
- "Nutty Creamy" is collection of lifestyle graphics, features, art prints and stationeries to promote slow life. I hope everyone can enjoy a unique nutty creamy life (naughty, fun and sweet). Some of our products were upcycled by the textile waste from the local brands - the production takes time, and people will never find another exactly the same, which gives the sense of appreciation; process matters.
- "We are not compatible" is a new project that will kickstart in June 2025, which is inspired by, and also celebrating, the relationship between me and my boyfriend. Since day one, we know that we are not compatible. I'm emotional but he's logical; I'm theoretical while he's practical; I love literatures whereas he likes mathematics; I'm a writer and he's a structural engineer. Although we are so different, this year marks our year No.12. In this collection, we are going to co-create some funny structures and models that apply the knowledges both of us admire. The process including argument and reconciliation of our co-creation will be recorded in the zine forms.
